Frustrating Screen Layout

Frustrating Screen Layout

I've been a long-time player of this game going back to the first version, and I'm legally blind. I've never struggled as much to find things on the screen or to navigate between screens as I have in this iteration of the game.

Buttons continue to shrink, and hovering the mouse over buttons does not provide text over them to say what they are or do. And finding things that were more intuitively placed on the screen has proven to be very difficult ... for example, I accidentally simmed past the End of Year Awards, for example, and I can't for the life of me find where to find that information now that I missed it.

It took me half an hour when I first downloaded the game to figure out that, in order to move from my office screen to the main dashboard that I had to click the tiny school logo next to my coach face ... until you find that, you're stuck unable to reach things like the "Roster" page, since the strip with those buttons does not show up on the Coach Office page.

Another wild example is when you're on the "Sim Games" screen during the season, that top strip is replaced by a strip that just has the mini graphic buttons instead of the descriptors of what they do ... which means you again have to either click back on that button next to your coach picture on the left side or click on tiny buttons you can't easily distinguish for what they do.

This may sound like nitpicking, but for a disabled player it's a dealbreaker. If I wasn't already familiar with Wolverine games and the DDSCB series in general, I'd have almost certainly given up and requested a refund.

I did finally find the Awards, on the Almanac page buried between Hist Standings and Champions ... but again, very non-intuitive. Reached out to Gary on Slack, but maybe this can be a helpful thread for anyone who is, like me, occasionally struggling to find things :)

The end of the year awards would have been specified right above the ADVANCE button as that text up there lets you know what the current stage is. When you click the advance button it takes you to an entirely new screen with a guy sitting at a desk that says Season Awards on it and you have to click the continue button there to leave the awards screen so I'm not sure how it would have been possible to miss the awards. The award winners would be listed in the almanac with other historical data for your league.

I am not sure why if you were the coach of a team that the league would not open to the team dashboard where all of the options would be but the school logo next to the coach would take you to your page as you found as would the four logos right below that which go to the staff, roster, depth and strategy pages. Also clicking the Teams link and selecting your team or any other team would take you to a team screen.

On the sim screen again on the left side you have the option of clicking your logo or those other four icons to go to team pages and in order to give people access to all the rest of the team pages I added the strip of mini graphic buttons which correspond to the logos that are used with the normal team links. There's really not room on the screen to do anything else but put the logos. There is also a back button at the top of the screen so if you came from one of your team screens like roster or depth or whatever you could go back to it that way.

Certainly willing to listen to ideas on how things can be improved if you have specific suggestions.

Why would this be non-intuitive? The almanac holds all the historical data for the league so seems like the most logical place to place the history of the award winners.

I kept searching in League News for some reason ... a lot of it may be the shrinking of buttons over the years, it seems like a lot has gotten smaller. But this one may have been more of me just bouncing around trying to find one particular thing I couldn't find. EDIT: Part of that was because the player awards for weekly and monthly show up in that area of the game, so I just naturally assumed the end of year ones would be linked there ... you also can't see the end of year ones on the Almanac page until you've completed all the end-of-season sims, so if you accidentally click past the guy at the desk like I did, you're stuck waiting until May 1 to see them.

I'll try and come up with some good screenshots for you over the next few days that I circle things on, if you've got a good email address I can send them to for you to peruse. It sounds chaotic trying to describe some of this stuff in all-text lol

Thanks for the quick response, apologies if I came off sounding frantic lol
