I can't help but think that it would be awesome for the NBA to have a team in Hawaii... Cool team name to be decided... Need something related to surfing or big waves rather than palm trees or coconuts *grin*

Lebron James of the Miami Heat was named Player of the Month for December. James averaged 28.3 points, 5.6 assists, 5.2 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 1.6 steals as the Heat went 11-4 for the month.

#4 pick Scott Channing was selected for the Rookie of the Month title for December. The Los Angeles Clipper averaged 11.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.2 blocks as the Clippers went 9-8 in the month.

There were some more trades this month as it has been a very active market –

Utah trades:
2015 1st round pick (UTA)

Los Angeles Lakers trades:
PF Tengiz Davidov

Why for Utah:
Davidov is a decent player and will get better, being picked at number 22 in last year’s draft and the Jazz thinks that they won’t get a comparable player at their pick this year. They are sitting at 18-11.

Why for the Lakers:
Davidov has not been happy playing on the Lakers bench and probably won’t be happy being on the Jazz bench either. He has a disruptive personality so hopefully Jerry Sloan can contain him.

Winner – Los Angeles Lakers
Getting a player like Davidov off your team is a good thing, as he was a distraction. Utah might be trading him soon.

Golden State trades:
PF Sebastjan Sbroczynski

Minnesota trades:
SG Connor Adams

Why for Golden State:
The Pole wasn’t living up to the hype that a #15 pick commands so shipping him off for anything is a bonus. Connor Adams is injured at the moment but he should give 10-15 minutes a game for the Warriors when healthy.

Why for Minnesota:
They only have one decent big guy off the bench in Michael Beasley so this trade is to help with their depth. They could have got a better player for Adams though.

Winner – Golden State
Sbroczynski is a woeful defender which fits in with the other Minnesota bigs. Just don’t look for him to dominate a game. Adams will be a good addition to the Warriors bench.

Golden State trades:
C Spencer Hawes
SF Tahric Price

Houston trades:
SF Cherokee Oquin

Why for Golden State:
The Warriors have five players that can man the 5 spot so Hawes was expendable. Oquin brings a toughness and rebounding quality that will compliment their starter Marcus Mance.

Why for Houston:
They now have five centres. As well as four power forwards. Maybe they are trying to make an entire team of big men. Price is a throw in.

Winner – Golden State
Two from two for the Warriors are they have now boosted their bench while not giving much up.

Milwaukee trades:
PF Drew Gooden
SF Corey Maggette

Atlanta trades:
PF Josh Smith

Why for Milwaukee:
Milwaukee has made up for their Bogut trade as they have a devastating defensive front line as Smith is a defensive monster. Blocks, rebounds and steals are his norm so pairing him with Dexter Floyd will cause headaches for other teams.

Why for Atlanta:
Both Gooden and Maggette are expirings and in two years they will have no one under contract. Not one player in 2016. Both players will get plenty of playing time off the bench.

Winner – Milwaukee
They pick up a great two-way player for two expiring contracts. Pairing him with Floyd will cause problems for most teams.

Los Angeles Lakers trades:
SF Jonas Jerebko

New Jersey trades:
C Al Horford

Why for the Lakers:
In the past four years Horford has been on four different teams, being traded for less and less so hopefully for the Lakers this is his last stop. He is an all-star talent but is very disruptive.

Why for New Jersey:
Horford has again worn out his welcome and needed to be removed. Jerebko is an expiring contract but Horford must have been bad because they didn’t even get a pick out of the deal.

Winner – Los Angeles Lakers
Any other team it would be a loss but if anyone can tame him Phil Jackson can. Good luck Lakers.

Lots of trades this year.

Our first game of 2015 was against Minnesota and we somehow lose 104-97 as Evan Turner goes off for 27 points while 3 Timberwolf bench players score 15 or more. Our top scorer was Kevin King with 19 but shot 6/19. The sooner we forget about this one the better.

Toronto Raptors 26-4

That’s better. We go into Phoenix and win 110-106 as we shoot 51% from the field. Dwight Howard has a field day with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 7 blocks while Rajon Rondo hands out 13 helpers. Nikolos Bocharkov does his best Howard impersonation with 32 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 blocks but it wasn’t enough.

Toronto Raptors 27-4

We beat the struggling Hornets 104-89 as our dynamic duo of Kevin King (30 points, 10 rebounds) and Dwight Howard (25 points, 16 rebounds) smash the smaller Hornets team. Travis Howard top scored for New Orleans with 18 but having a 6’3 SG always spells trouble.

Toronto Raptors 28-4

Back to back winswith a 112-81 demolition of Memphis with Reggie Williams coming to the party with 21 points and Ed Davis has 4 blocks off the bench. The Grizzlies are young and have some height but they really need some proper guards, not SFs masquerading as guards.

Toronto Raptors 29-4

We are now 16-0 at home with a 99-84 win over San Antonio. It’s good to see George-Marie Gauthier is getting some playing time as he started the game and scored 10 points. Tim Mozgov keeps Pau Gasol to a subpar game as Gasol shot 26 shots for 21 points while Mozov had 17 points, 10 rebounds and 8 blocks.

Toronto Raptors 30-4

A barnburner of a game the next night with a 127-118 win over Milwaukee as our team went 38/50 from the free throw line. Kevin King had 31 points, Rajon Rondo with 17 points and 12 assists and Ed Davis had 12 points in 13 minutes. Marcus Thornton top scored with 29 points while ex-Raptor Jarrett Jack had 22 points off the bench.

Toronto Raptors 31-4

Dwight Howard again nearly gets a triple double with 32 points, 10 rebounds and 8 blocks while Rajon Rondo helps out with 18 points and 14 assists in our 118-102 win over Charlotte. Reggie Williams contains Kobe Bryant who had 19 points on 24 shots.

Toronto Raptors 32-4

Reggie Williams nabs the player of the game in our 117-96 away win over Washington with 26 points and 5 rebounds. Ed Davis is showing how good he is with 15 points in 18 minutes off the bench. Gilbert Arenas has a game high of 34 points.

Toronto Raptors 33-4

Keeping Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder to 33% shooting is always good as our largest lead was 47 in our 112-72 win. No starter plays more than 30 minutes as we have the bench on early and often. Durant shot 4/11 for 12 points and 8 turnovers in an awesome display on our behalf.

Toronto Raptors 34-4

Memphis still isn’t at our level as we beat them 103-90 at home. Tim Mozgov has a stellar game with2 2 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks while holding Claudio Carrera to 0/7 shooting. Kevin King passes well with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. OJ Mayo top scores with 22 points but I don’t like the starting PG being the top scorer and only handing out 4 assists.

Toronto Raptors 35-4

Win number 10 in a row is an away win over New Jersey 116-93. Kevin King shoots the lights out with 34 points with Tim Mozgov being a great second with 25 points. Rajon Rondo was close to a triple double with 8 points, 13 assists and 7 rebounds. No one played well for the Nets as we shut them out all night.

Toronto Raptors 36-4

New Orleans are looking for next year as we beat them 105-94 behind an all-around performance by a lot of our players –
Dwight Howard – 20 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks
Tim Mozgov – 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 blocks
Kevin King – 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists
Rajon Rondo – 17 points and 17 assists
Ed Davis – 14 points in 21 minutes.

Travis Howard again paced the Hornets with 24 points.

Toronto Raptors 37-4

We haven’t lost at home yet and that trend continues with a 102-86 win over New Jersey behind one of Kevin King’s best games with 32 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists while Rajon Rondo had 12 points, 17 assists and 7 rebounds. New Jersey had only two players in double figures with Terrence Williams being the best with 21 points.

Toronto Raptors 38-4

Beating a great Dallas team is a great boost for our confidence, winning 103-99. Luckily Kevin King came to play with 30 points as we only have two players in double figure scoring with Dwight Howard being the other one with 17 points. Dirk Nowitzki shows his class with 21 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.

Toronto Raptors 39-4

Our last game for January is a 102-85 win over San Antonio as Kevin King is at 30 points again with 33, while Tim Mozgov shuts down Pau Gasol again as Gasol went 2/11 for 12 points. Rajon Rondo picked up the slack with 23 points while Dwight Howard fouled out early.

Toronto Raptors 40-4

We lost our first game for the month and then went on a 14 game unbroken win streak which puts us 6 games in front of second place in the East, the New York Knicks. Miami has dropped to third and are 7.5 games behind us. Atlanta are still last with a 11-33 record.

In the West, Utah and Portland are tied for the lead with 31-15 records and Oklahoma City are third, only half a game back. New Orleans are dead last with a 10-35 record.

Toronto Top Points – Kevin King (24.8), Dwight Howard (19.4), Tim Mozgov (14.9), Rajon Rondo (13.8)
Toronto Top Rebounds – Dwight Howard (12.4), Tim Mozgov (8.9), Kevin King (5.6), Ed Davis (3.9)
Toronto Top Assists – Rajon Rondo (10.1), Kevin King (4.3), Reggie Williams (3.4), Trent Bailey (1.9)

League Top Points – Lebron James MIA (25.4), Kevin Durant OKC (25.1), Dirk Nowitzki DAL (25.1), Kevin King TOR (24.8)
League Top Rebounds – Dwight Howard TOR (12.4), Chris Kaman POR (11.9), Cole Aldrich OKC (11.3), Travis Randolph PHO (11.1)
League Top Assists – Rajon Rondo TOR (10.1), Chris Paul PHI (9.2), Russell Westbrook OKC (9.2), Deron Williams UTA (8.4)
League Top Blocks – Dwight Howard TOR (3.9), Claudio Carrera MEM (3.9), Travis Randolph PHO (3.7), Justin Cabrera HOU (3.5)

League Top FT% - Manu Ginobili DAL (.935), Dirk Nowitzki DAL (.919), Mo Williams DEN (.910), Kevin Martin HOU (.901)
League Top Turnovers – Tyreke Evans SAC (4.5), Aaron Brooks HOU (3.9), OJ Mayo MEM (3.8), Eric Gordon IND (3.8)

Rookie Top Points – Scott Channing LAC (11.5), Reggie Young CLE (11.2), Bootsy Nelson DEN (10.3), Jim Seymour BOS (9.5)
Rookie Top Rebounds – Dexter Floyd MIL (10.7), Reggie Young CLE (7.8), Scott Channing LAC (6.5), Brandon Martin GSW (5.7)
Rookie Top Assists – Jarret Griffin NOH (3.9), Bootsy Nelson DEN (2.7), Greg Smith HOU (2.4)

Second round of draft prospects (previous rank in brackets):

1 (1) – C Matt Bailey (BYU) Freshman
Is still filling up the cup but his defensive skills are starting to come into focus now.

2 (2) – SG Estell Phillips (Houston) Freshman
Is coming along slowly but is a terrific rebounder for a SG. Look for him to break out at the end of the season.

3 (NR) – SG Matt Davis (Wake Forest) Senior
First time a senior has been on this list and for good reason. Only 6’3 but is heavier than Josh Potter. He is also nearly averaging a triple double with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists on the season.

4 (4) – PF Joshua Potter (Connecticut) Sophomore
Is the best passing big man in the college game and is a fantastic rebounder. Is being compared to Chris Bosh for his quick feet and killer jumpshot.

5 (3) – C MAXIME Videnov (Bulgaria) 19 years old
Drops because of his conditioning. Has a hard time keeping in front of his man because he is slow footed.

January’s Player of the Month title went to Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks. Nowitzki averaged 26.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks as the Mavericks went 8-7 for the month.

Dexter Floyd has won his second Rookie of the Month title, averaging 8.8 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.3 blocks as the Milwaukee Bucks 6-12 for January.

There are more trades this month, continuing on to the freewheeling trade market -

Los Angeles Clippers trades:
2015 1st round pick

Dallas trades:
C Ben Gordon

Why for the Clippers:
The Clips are sitting nicely at 25-19 so shoring up their front line would be a clever idea. However, Gordon, one of Dallas’ X-Factors in their championship run is being held captive at their 11th man. Maybe with more playing time he will move up the ladder.

Why for Dallas:
Second year man Thomas Freeman has been playing well as their first man off the bench they didn’t have a need for Gordon so getting another pick is good.

Winner – Unknown
Depends on where the pick is. Gordon was picked #24 so if it’s higher than that it’s a win to Dallas.

Detroit trades:
2015 1st round pick

Cleveland trades:
PG Sam Dye

Why for Detroit:
They were in a desperate need of a PG and Dye is a great one. His attitude stinks but if the Pistons can get him under control then look out.

Why for Cleveland:
Dye and his terrible attitude had to and it’s great to see teams not be held at ransom by their spoilt player. Even if they only get back a draft pick this is showing that if you stuff around with the team you will be gone.

Winner – Cleveland (for now)
If Detroit can tame Dye then Detroit wins. The Pistons are at 15-31 so the pick will be high.

Washington trades:
2015 1st round pick

Philadelphia trades:
PF Jeramy Smith

Why for Washington:
Smith slots in at the Wizards’ 7th man and at 24-21 they probably aren’t going to get someone as good as him in the draft.

Why for Philadelphia:
The 76ers have got three PFs and two Cs on the team so losing someone as average as Smith isn’t a hassle and getting another pick in the draft will be good to replace him.

Winner – Philadelphia
Smith is such a ‘meh’ player that giving up a pick in the low 20’s wasn’t the best idea.

Minnesota trades:
2015 1st round pick

New Orleans trades:
SG Travis Howard

Why for Minnesota:
They now have someone to back-up Evan Turner as Corey Hines has been a bust. Although small (6’3) Howard can fill it up and will help out with the second unit.

Why for New Orleans:
They are dead last in the league and it looks like they are waving the white flag. Howard was decent, but nothing to build a team around so getting another possible lottery pick for him is what they could have hoped for.

Winner – Minnesota
Having that guard coming off the bench who can continue scoring is needed on every team and that is what they got with Howard.

There are a lot of these ‘trade pick for player’ deals going around these days which shows that teams are more open to trading their first round picks than yesteryear.

Onto our season, we play Miami again with both Lebron and D-Wade sporting hefty injuries and we pummel them 126-94. Wade, James and Bosh combined for 5/28 shooting for 18 points as Chris Bosh fouled out in only 11 minutes. Dwight Howard had 32 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 blocks in a fantastic overall game and Ed Davis contributed 16 points and 5 blocks off the bench as we shoot 51 free throws (making 39).

Toronto Raptors 41-4

The next night we stomp the New York Knicks 121-107 as Kevin King scores 34 points and hands out 7 assists and DeMar DeRozan scores 12 points in 11 minutes but logs no other statistic. Dwight Howard and Amar’e Stoudemire play to a stalemate as both players foul out early. The Knicks have 6 players in double figures.

Toronto Raptors 42-4

We just beat the second and third seeded teams in the Eastern Conference but an average of 23 points, which gets more awfully excited.

We win for the 17th time in a row with a 113-93 win over the very good Philadelphia 76ers as a bench outing from none other than Chuck Hayes steals the highlights with 14 points in 16 minutes. Tim Mozgov helps out the Chuckwagon with 24 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks while Jrue Holiday goes off for 35 points.

Toronto Raptors 43-4

Detroit were no match for us even with their new PG as we won 108-78 as Dwight Howard was close to a triple double with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 8 blocks and Reggie Williams had 20 points. The Pistons shot 38% from the field as they were totally outmatched.

Toronto Raptors 44-4

It’s the first match-up between us and Orlando since the trade (we won with Griffin once this season) and it’s no contest, 114-99. It wasn’t Dwight Howard who took his old team to the sword but Reggie Williams who scored 33 points on Jamal Crawford. Rajon Rondo shot 1/10 from the field but made up for it with 15 assists. Blake Griffin shot 8/22 for 23 points and 14 rebounds.

Toronto Raptors 45-4

After the game Blake Griffin and Ed Davis were seen at dinner together reminiscing about old times. The two became very close while Griffin was in Toronto as they used to be sparring partners at training. There has been a whisper that this is the reason why Ed Davis has been less patient about being on the bench.

Win number 20 is a 107-87 home win over the Lakers as Dwight Howard beats up Al Horford for 24 points and 16 rebounds. Kevin Kinig has 24 points while Rajon Rondo doubles up again. Andre Iguodala top scores with 24 points for the losers and Andrew Bynum grabs 11 rebounds in 14 minutes off the bench.

Toronto Raptors 46-4

Our last game before the All-Star break is a 118-85 win over Houston as Tim Mozgov and Dwight Howard combine for 34 points, 29 rebounds and 3 blocks while the Rockets’ five big men played a TOTAL of 96 minutes, or an average of 19 minutes because of foul trouble. The game was over early as no player on either team played more than 33 minutes.

Toronto Raptors 47-4

Heading into the All-Star break we have a comfortable 9 game lead over our nearest competitor, Miami, but I am not going overboard. The real season starts when the regular season ends and we found that out the hard way.

For all of you who wanted to see how the Howard/Griffin comparison is, well here it is –
Dwight Howard – 19.5 points, 12.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 3.9 blocks and 1.1 steals.
Blake Griffin – 21.9 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.1 blocks and 1.3 steals.

So you can see it’s fairly even but the most telling statistic is that we are 40-3 after the trade and they are 24-20. Sure we were 7-1 with Griffin but I am almost certain we wouldn’t be as good as 40-3 after that date.

Onto the festivities!

Hasheem Walker (IND) comfortably wins the Dunk Contest, beating out Stanley Robinson (NOH) 78-64 in the final. The other contestants were Rodney Benoit (SAC) again and Pape Sy (MIN) again.

We still don’t have anyone competing in the skills competitions, as Povilas Tailos (CHA) wins the Long Distance Shootout beating Mike Miller (MIA) and Adam Lofton (SAS) in the final.

The rookie game was kept close as the Sophomores beat the Rookies 105-96 as Zack Arthurs takes the Player of the Game honours with 25 points. Marlon Zinn (PHO) takes 25 shots to score 23 points, while Justin Cabrera (HOU) and Claudio Carrera (MEM) combine for 30 rebounds and 9 blocks. Dexter Floyd is the best for the Rookies with 21 rebounds and 3 blocks.

In the All-Star game, we have two participants as the East beats West 137-124 as Chris Paul takes MVP honours with 24 points and 13 assists. There are a massive eight East players who score in double figures, compared to the West’s five.

The starting five of each team was -
East:
PG Chris Paul PHI
SG Kobe Bryant CHA
SF Lebron James MIA
PF Blake Griffin ORL
C Dwight Howard TOR
(Kevin King was also selected)

West:
Deron Williams UTA
SG Tyreke Evans SAC
SF Kevin Durant OKC
PF Dirk Nowitzki DAL
C Andrew Bogut LAC

123-87 is the score of our first game back over the Detroit Pistons. Dwight Howard continues his All-Star play with 28 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks, helped out by Trent Bailey’s 13 points in 14 minutes off the bench. New Piston Sam Dye didn’t have the best game – 4/14 shooting for 11 points and 7 turnovers.

Toronto Raptors 48-4

Another battle of the top seeds and we win this one again, 124-113 over Portland. Kevin King is fantastic with 29 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds while the bench guards kept the lead going with DeMar DeRozan had 19 points in 19 minutes while Trent Bailey had 10 points and 4 assists in 11 minutes. Three Trailblazers top scored with 19 points but got nothing from their bench.

Toronto Raptors 49-4

We lose for the first time in 24 games as none other than the Orlando Magic beat us 108-92 as Dwight Howard is troubled with fouls the whole game. Jamal Crawford gets his revenge with 31 points while Blake Griffin is ‘held’ to only 18 points and 13 rebounds. We have 3 players over 20 points but we shoot a paltry 39% from the field.

Toronto Raptors 49-5

We lose again, this time to New York 114-104 as Wilson Chandler has 28 points on us while bench big Chucky Durden monsters us for 18 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks. Kevin King tries his best with 33 points but no one else came to play.

Toronto Raptors 49-6

Three losses in a row as we go down to Miami 119-114 with Lebron James doing what he does with 39 points, with Chris Bosh helping with 19 points. Rajon Rondo gets the best of Dwayne Wade again with 21 points and 11 assists, while Tim Mozgov has 24 points and 11 rebounds. Dwight Howard is nullified by Tim Duncan as Howard only shoots 3 shots for 13 points.

Toronto Raptors 49-7

I’m not worried yet as those three were SUPER tough and all away, but I just want our win #50 dammit.

The end of February was harsh on us being on a three game losing streak but when you are 49-4 before that I guess we can’t complain.

And we are still 6.5 games ahead of the #2 seed Miami with New York 9 games behind us in third. Atlanta is still last with a 16-41 record.

Utah has wrestled first place out of Portland’s hands at 39-18, with Portland and Oklahoma City 1 game behind them. New Orleans is not the worst team in the league; Atlanta is, as the Hornets have improved to a 17-40 record.

Toronto Top Points – Kevin King (24.6), Dwight Howard (19.1), Tim Mozgov (15.1), Reggie Williams (14.1)
Toronto Top Rebounds – Dwight Howard (11.8), Tim Mozgov (8.8), Kevin King (5.4), Ed Davis (4.0)
Toronto Top Assists – Rajon Rondo (10.3), Kevin King (4.3), Reggie Williams (3.3), Trent Bailey (2.0)

League Top Points – Kevin Durant OKC (26.1), Lebron James MIA (24.8), Dirk Nowitzki DAL (24.7), Kevin King TOR (24.6)
League Top Rebounds – Dwight Howard TOR (11.8), Chris Kaman POR (11.6), Blake Griffin ORL (11.1), Amar’e Stoudemire NYK (11.1)
League Top Assists – Rajon Rondo TOR (10.3), Chris Paul PHI (9.5), Russell Westbrook OKC (9.1), Deron Williams UTA (8.6)
League Top Blocks – Dwight Howard TOR (3.7), Justin Cabrera HOU (3.6), Claudio Carrera MEM (3.5), Travis Randolph PHO (3.3)
League Top Steals – Monta Ellis GSW (2.3), Kevin King TOR (1.9), Xavier Henry PHO (1.8), Lebron James MIA (1.8)

League Top Turnovers – Tyreke Evans SAC (4.4), Boleslav Silajdic ATL (4.0), Devin Harris NJN (3.9), Aaron Brooks HOU (3.9)

Rookie Top Points – Scott Channing LAC (11.3), Reggie Young CLE (11.0), Travis Spears BOS (10.5), Jarret Griffin NOH (10.0)

Rookie Top Assists – Jarret Griffin NOH (4.3), Bootsy Nelson DEN (2.6), Greg Smith HOU (2.3), Jim Seymour BOS (2.1)

Third round of draft prospects (previous rank in brackets):

1 (1) – C Matt Bailey (BYU) Freshman
Has become the clear cut #1 pick this year unless something crazy happens.

2 (2) – SG Estell Phillips (Houston) Freshman
His stats are increasing and he is working out how to use his NBA ready body.

3 (NR) – SG Kyle Craig (Arizona) Sophomore
Craig and Matt Davis are playing leapfrog for the #2 SG drafted. It will be a tight race as both look very similar.

4 (4) – PF Joshua Potter (Connecticut) Sophomore
Not much has changed about Potter. Versatile, quick and has great hands.

5 (5) – C MAXIME Videnov (Bulgaria) 19 years old
Is the tallest player in the top 15 and because of that is probably rated higher than his skills tell.

As the Oklahoma City Thunder went 8-4, so did Kevin Durant win the Player of the Month crown. He averaged 29.8 points and 6.6 rebounds as the Thunder had a 5 game winning streak in the month.

Dexter Floyd won his second Rookie of the Year award going for 7.9 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.2 blocks a game in the month as the Bucks went 4-7 in February.

Again there are heaps of trades for the month as GMs are becoming more relaxed with trades –

Portland trades:
SG Wesley Mathews
2015 1st round pick

Cleveland trades:
PF JJ Hickson

Why for Portland:
The Blazers have great depth at C but most of those players are only Cs. JJ Hickson becomes the first big man off the bench and it only cost them at low 20s pick and barely used Mathews.

Why for Cleveland:
The Cavs are super young with seven of their players 25 years old or younger so having an older player to keep their heads is paramount. Hickson is on his contract year and would have asked for more money than the Cavs were willing to pay.

Winner – Portland
Hickson is a great talent as will bolster the already strong Blazer bench.

Oklahoma City trades:
PG Baron Davis
2015 1st round pick

Indiana trades:
PG Darren Collison

Why for Oklahoma City:
Russell Westbrook is more of a scorer and even though Collison is small having both in the back court is the Thunder’s aim. They can always have Jordan Crawford or Jamaal McFadden come off the bench if the opposition is too big.

Why for Indiana:
For some reason they are continuing with Eric Gordon at PG they decided that Collison was expendable. The pick is just gravy.

Winner – Oklahoma City
Other teams should be worried as the Thunder has now the best backcourt rotation in the whole league.

Philadelphia trades:
PF Amir Johnson
2015 1st round pick

Houston trades:
PF Patrick Patterson

Why for Philadelphia:
The Sixers have been filling the front court positions by committee but now Patterson brings a solid PF to the mix. Although his contract is a little steep they have a better big man rotation than before.

Why for Houston:
Patterson was being outplayed by the two spoilt J’s in Jordan Cole and Justin Cabrera who are fantastic players but terrible human beings. The Rockets are rolling the dice with them. Johnson is an expiring.

Winner – Philadelphia
As the Thunder got better in their back court the 76ers have improved their front court. Look out.

Dallas trades:
PG Kirk Hinrich
2015 1st round pick

Los Angeles Lakers trades:
C Andrew Bynum

Why for Dallas:
Having not one but two great bruising Cs to back up Dirk Nowitzki is fantastic to make sure no one takes advantage of him. However, they now are very shallow on guard depth with Tayshaun Prince starting at PG which is troubling.

Why for the Lakers:
Al Horford was getting sooky (again) because he had to share his minutes with another quality big so they shipped out Bynum so Horford could start. Hinrich is now the 6th man for the Lakers.

Winner – Dallas
Bynum is better than Horford and the first round pick will be low enough to be an afterthought.

Philadelphia trades:
PG Jonny Flynn

Cleveland trades:
SF Luol Deng

Why for Phildelphia:
Although Jrue Holiday has been good at the SG position, he was just too small (6’3) to be playing next to Chris Paul (6’0). And even though Luol Deng is normally a SF he slots wonderfully into the SG position and shifts Holiday to 6th man.

Why for Cleveland:
The Cavs paid Avery Bradley LOTS of money and now trading away Deng it opens up some playing time for him. Deng was also under contract for another three years while Flynn is an expiring.

Winner – Philadelphia
Deng bolsters their back court while giving up a player of no importance.

New Jersey trades:
PF Andray Blatche

Houston trades:
SG Kevin Martin

Why for New Jersey:
Derrick Favors is being paid big bucks and needs to produce so trading away his rival on the team gives him plenty of room to grow. Getting back a SG who can fill it up will take the strain off Brook Lopez and Devin Harris.

Why for Houston:
Blatche is brimming with potential but is a knucklehead. It is pretty much a Andray Blatche for Patrick Patterson which is a downgrade.

Winner – New Jersey
Martin will cause teams to close out on him giving Lopez and Favors plenty of room to operate.

There have been HEAPS of trades this year compared to previous ones (not including draft day trades) –
2010 – Seven trades (four from Toronto)
2011 – Seven trades (four from Toronto)
2012 – Eight trades (none from Toronto, seven at trade deadline)
2013 – Five trades (none from Toronto)
2014 – Seventeen trades (one from Toronto).

So finally onto our first game of March and we get our 50th win with a squeaker over New Jersey, 120-118. The dynamic duo were superb with Dwight Howard having 25 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 blocks while Tim Mozgov had 21 points and 3 blocks. Reggie Williams helped out with 24 points while Kevin King shot TURRIBLY for 13 points on 4/20 shooting, but had 9 rebounds and 8 assists. The Nets had six players in double figures led by newly acquired Kevin Martin with 24 points.

Toronto Raptors 50-7

We beat up the woeful Hawks 112-86 behind a better shooting game from Kevin King who had 23 points on 8/16 shooting. Rajon Rondo hands out 13 assists while Trent Bailey scores 11 points in 10 minutes. Joe Johnson was their only player to show up with 31 points.

Toronto Raptors 51-7

Three players over 20 points for our 123-107 win over Dallas as Reggie Williams shows how old Manu Ginobili is with 31 points while Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum had a great battle as Howard had 23 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks while Bynum had 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Toronto Raptors 52-7

Dwight Howard shows how a true big man should play in our 117-103 away win over Houston. Even though Jordan Cole and Justin Cabrera are very talented, they cannot play with others and Howard took advantage of that with 26 points and 12 rebounds while Tim Mozgov had 19 points and 12 rebounds while Cole and Cabrera had a combined total of 25 points, 14 rebounds and 8 blocks as Aaron Brooks top scored with 28 points.

Toronto Raptors 53-7

We lose as Deron Williams torched us in our 101-87 loss to Utah. Williams had 25 points while holding Rajon Rondo to 6 points and 5 turnovers, and also checked Reggie Williams for some game time who also played badly for 13 points. We shot a paltry 33% as we were never in it.

Toronto Raptors 53-8

It’s always fun to beat up on Boston, this time winning 114-82 as we have six players in double figures led by Trent Bailey’s 19 points off the bench. The Celts only had two players in double figures with ex-Raptor Reggie Evans leading the way with 16 points.

Toronto Raptors 54-8

Another win, this time over Cleveland 112-103 behind Dwight Howard’s near triple double of 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 blocks. We actually get beaten in the rebounding count (55-41) as the Cavs have three players in double figure rebounding.

Toronto Raptors 55-8

Another win over our new rival Orlando 114-101 as Dwight Howard has 23 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks to Blake Griffin’s 14 points and 19 rebounds. Reggie Williams has the measure of the Magic with 29 points while third year player Jarian Turner had 20 points to pace Orlando.

Toronto Raptors 56-8

Dwight Howard shoots 6/20 free throws but helps out in other areas in our 114-81 win over the Clippers. Howard had 24 points and 16 rebounds while Kevin King chipped in with 23 points and 7 rebounds. James Harden is very close to a perfect game with 5/5 shooting, 5/5 three pointers, 15 points and such but had 1 turnover.

Toronto Raptors 57-8

It’s five wins in a row with a 115-92 win over the free-falling Lakers behind Dwight Howard (again) who had 37 points and 16 rebounds while fouling out Al Horford in only 12 minutes. Jason Richardson gives his best Kobe Bryant performance with 39 points but they just weren’t in the game.

Toronto Raptors 58-8

Our ninth loss of the season, this time 110-107 to Golden State. Monta Ellis leads the Warriors with 30 points while Ekpe Udoh has 13 points, 10 rebounds and 9 blocks off the bench, crazy. Kevin King has been struggling lately, this time only scoring 13 points on 2/15 shooting while Dwight Howard is carrying us with 31 points before fouling out.

Toronto Raptors 58-9

We get massacred by Sacramento 121-95 as I have no answer to why we played so badly. Tyreke Evans is having a coming out party this year, tonight he had 31 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 5 steals while we shot a game losing 41%. Ed Davis gets 14 points and 9 rebounds but I just want to forget this game.

Toronto Raptors 58-10

Closing out months is becoming our weakness as we lose again, this time to Oklahoma City 114-105 behind Jordan Crawford’s 30 points. Kevin Durant and Kevin King play to a standstill but we let a team shoot over 50% again which needs to stop.

Toronto Raptors 58-11

Going back home is like an elixir as we ream Denver 134-100 as we have four players with 20 points or more in Kevin King (31 points), Reggie Williams (26 points), Tim Mozgov (20 points) and Dwight Howard (20 points). Of course Rajon Rondo was there to give them good looks with 19 assists. Zack Arthurs had 19 points for the losers.

Toronto Raptors 59-11

Another home game and another smashing, this time 115-80 over Charlotte. Dwight Howard and Tim Mozgov combined for 40 points, 22 rebounds and 11 blocks while Kevin King had 24 points. Kobe Bryant has been having a terrible time against us, this time going 5/17 for 12 points and 4 turnovers.

Toronto Raptors 60-11

The last night of March Dexter Floyd had his first triple double with 10 points, 26 rebounds and a massive 14 blocks in their overtime win over Orlando.

With one month to go we have a 4.5 game lead over Miami for the first place, while New York are 4 games back from them. Atlanta is still last with a 20-52 record. I’m really hoping we get the best record because we are only ‘good’ on the road. We are perfect at home, 36-0, but only 24-11 away which is still good, just not as good as the team suggests.

In the West Portland is first with a 50-24 record which would only be a fourth seed in the East with the Thunder and Utah only one game behind the Blazers. New Orleans is still in contention for the best lottery odds with a 20-52 record.

Last round of draft prospects (previous rank in brackets):

1 (1) – C Matt Bailey (BYU) Freshman
If you can believe has increased his numbers over the board, now averaging 30 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks a game.

2 (4) – PF Joshua Potter (Connecticut) Sophomore
Is a dead-eye jumpshooter who can also beat you off the dribble. Great passer too.

3 (5) – C MAXIME Videnov (Bulgaria) 19 years old
Become fitter and more and agile and is reaping the rewards.

4 (NR) – SG Matt Davis (Wake Forest) Senior
Again leapfrogs Craig and also hops above Phillips. Still nearly averaging a triple double this far into the season is fantastic.

5 (2) – SG Estell Phillips (Houston) Freshman
Has dropped his play and has dropped his position. Davis is tearing shreds of Phillips but has size and youth on his side.

zike_42, I have noticed that you do not rest your starters after claiming home court advantage.

Besides preventing injuries, resting them may improve the team's performances during the second of the back to back games in the playoffs. While watching the AI teams played against one another during the playoffs, I noticed that most of the superstars were relatively low in their endurance due to too many minutes during the regular season. Hence, these players had to be substituted outside the rotation, which in turn affected their teams’ performances and chances of winning the NBA Championship.
