New York, New York! Bringing a championship home

Houston, TX – If one person was the example of big men taking longer to develop than guards, it’s Art Stevenson. He started slowly but finished with a bang and after 16 years in the league, he has decided to call it a day.

“I’ve always been a late bloomer”, Stevenson said in his retirement speech, “but I’ve always caught up to the group and made them pay for leaving me behind.” The crowd laughed as they always have through his wacky career as his post game interviews were always comedy gold. After being traded to San Diego in his fourth year, Stevenson gave himself the nickname, “The Artisan” and his pranks on his teammates were top notch.

That doesn’t mean that he was a one trick pony, as his tricks on the court were fantastic. Starting out in Boston where he rotted on the bench for his first three years, where he averaged all of 8.5 minutes a game in 147 games, he was mercifully dealt to San Diego. An overnight success for the Riders, he went from averaging 4.6 points and 2.5 rebounds for Boston to 15.7 points and 6.8 rebounds the very next season. Lasting only two seasons in San Diego when big bucks were thrown at him, he decided on Cleveland where his hype grew even more. He played in three All Star games, starting one in 2035, and was named to the NBA First Team in 2035 for the Cavaliers.

Not only was his play award worthy, his endurance and stamina was second to none. In the ten year span from 2028 to 2037, Stevenson played all 82 games in each season except for two games in 2031 where he was rested for the final two games of the season. That means he played 818 games out of 820 which is fantastic body control and will power to push through niggling injuries and having the luck to not have any major ones. He moved onto New Orleans, Phoenix and Portland where he played good minutes before formally retiring this season. His only regret was “not winning a title like the rest of the Rookie Six guys” but he can rest easy knowing he was a star in the best league in the world.

Brooklyn, NY – The bolter of the Rookie Six, Kenneth Long already had a title in his third year and was averaging 19 points and 5 rebounds in his second. He didn’t hit the lofty heights of his Rookie Six mates like Jack Dawkins and Cort Majishun but he more than held his own in the league.

In his press conference he said that he, “was very content with how my career panned out. Can you blame me? I got four rings, went to multiple All Star games and made some life long friends and millions of dollars. What’s not to like?”

Starting out in Miami, things were rocky as Long had many run ins with the coaching staff about playing time and not getting enough burn. That all changed when he was sent down into the D-League the next season where he torn it up, averaging 27 points and 8 rebounds in 16 games before the Heat took notice and recalled him. Long then started the remaining 40 games and averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds and he felt satisfied with his world. Playing seven more seasons in Miami where he was the top dog, averaging over 19 points in five more seasons, he decided a change was in order and moved to Brooklyn through free agency. He met up with fellow Rookie Sixer Cort Majishun and they took the league to school, winning three titles in their first three years as Nets. He fell out of favour with then Coach Jeff Lane and was bench for every game of the next season before getting traded to Orlando, then Portland and Milwaukee and finally finishing his career in Phoenix.

For his phenomenal career that spanned 18 years, he was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame alongside Terry McKenzie. To go along with his induction, Long’s number 25 was retired by the Miami Heat at the end of the season.

Bummer. One of the top dynasties I have ever read. You inspired me to get back into the game myself.

I wonder what you'll do for an encore.

Thanks for the kinds words jcomey, it's been a blast. Looking back, I started this in November 2012 which is a long, long time for me to be doing this but it's been great.

I'm going to take a break from dynasties for a while and maybe get stuck into PB4 at some stage but I'm sure you'll see me back doing something in the future.

Thanks for reading!

Brooklyn, NY – For someone to change their name from Marius White to Cort Majishun even before he has played a single minute of NBA basketball is pretty damn brave, but looking back on his career it has been validated.

“This feels right,” Majishun said at his retirement conference. “I’ve been in the league 18 years, I’ve busted my gut for 18 long years and now I think I deserve a break. Some people have called me arrogant and a shoot first point guard but my numbers don’t lie to show how good I was in the league.”

He was not just good, he was great. Starting out for the Grizzlies, Majishun was a gun from the get go, averaging 13 points and 6 assists in his rookie year. He then went on to lead the Grizzlies for eight more seasons, racking up plenty of awards and accomplishments but he never got any real post season glory. Although he was far and away the best player for Memphis in those eight years with averages of 24 points and 10 assists in 2031, the front office wasted his talents and it was obvious that he wanted more. Only playing in two playoff series in those nine years would do that to a man.

He decided that when Brooklyn was knocking, he would answer; signing a free agent deal with the Nets. Success followed almost instantaneously, with Majishun and Kenneth Long leading the team to three straight championships in 2034, 2035 and 2036. Majishun’s numbers fell from his Memphis averages but he didn’t care at all about that, he had found his glory. He played three more years in Brooklyn before being traded to Minnesota and played as a bench warmer for the Wolves.

Not only has Cort Majishun been inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame and his number being retired by the Memphis Grizzlies (not the Nets strangely), but he is fifth all time in assists in the history of the league behind only John Stockton, Ricky Rubio, Jason Kidd and Lou Beck. They are some great names to be put with.

Dallas, TX – When people think of the city of Dallas a few would say whoever the mayor is at the time. Most people would say “Captain Jack Dawkins” which is the right answer. For fourteen years Dawkins has been the heart and soul of the Mavericks juggernaut that smashed everyone in their way during the 2030s. He was the captain in his third year and led them to four titles in five years.

At his press conference, Dawkins said, “I will always be from Dallas and I will always put Dallas first. Basketball has a way of making people come together and I saw that first hand with the Mavericks. Walking down the street on any given day I was mobbed not because I was rich or famous, but because I put the city and its citizens first. That’s the Dallas way. I have been blessed to play with such fantastic humans in the best city in the world.”

It’s unfathomable to think of Dawkins in any other jersey but his first game in the pros was with Indiana, who drafted him at #13. He only played one game for the Pacers before being traded to the Mavericks and the rest is history. A fierce competitor and a courageous leader, Dawkins made the best of his opportunities straight away. He made the All Star game in his second year and an All NBA team in his third. And when Ledaryl McMillian and Terry McKenzie came around, that’s when the fireworks erupted. Winning titles in 2028, 2030, 2031 and 2032 “Captain” Jack was instrumental for the team’s success, shown by his eleven All Star game appearances and eight All NBA spots.

Predictably Dawkins was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame alongside three of his other Rookie Six members and his number is sitting in the Dallas Mavericks’ rafters after they retired #41. Congratulations to Jack Dawkins for his incredible career.

Well, that's it everyone. As of the end of this season (which is now) I have retired from the world of PB3 dynasties. It's been a fantastic ride for the past two and a bit years in real life and 32 years in the game but it's time to hang them up.

I want to thank everyone who has read, posted and contributed to this thread, especially you six that gave yourselves to the Rookie Six which was a fantastic way of keeping me (and hopefully you guys) invested in the universe.

I'll be taking a break from dynasty writings to get back into other video games but I'm going to give PB4 a real go soon, which I'm sure is going to be completely different (and more awesome) than PB3. I've got a few ideas of new dynasties in PB4 but it won't be any time soon. Maybe in a few months.

The next few posts are going to be a whole dump of historic stats for my amusement to really put into perspective the years that have gone in this world.

Again, thanks to everyone who has been a part of this and hopefully it's got you back into playing these WS games as they are a fantastic part of video games and should be backed to the fullest.

Great ending to a great dynasty thread, zike! Thanks.

Like you, Cort Majishun may have retired, but he's on to other things. He's been approached to do a movie and has bought a house in Hollywood.

Thanks PG, it's been a blast. It's good to see Majishun is keeping busy after basketball.
