One more: if my coach calls and a prospect repeatedly says he has little interest in coming to my school, time to move on from him? Take him off call list?

If it's repeatedly so, then I usually will ... but some of those guys I'll keep on my list jic ... if they then don't get the offers they expected, some of them wind up signing out of desperation in March. If they go from blue (interested) to outright not interested, or if they accept a home visit and then show no interest at all, I do cut all of those guys immediately.

Boom! Just got my first commit. The whole time I was battling Cornell and Holy Cross for this kid. During the commit announcement, logos for both rival schools disappear and it comes down to Stonehill and a school I hadn't even seen on his list, Wake Forest! I'm thinking I DON'T HAVE A CHANCE with the ACC involved! But then he pulls the hat for the mighty Skyhawks. Let's go!

This was fun. In my story line my young coach is from NC but coaching in New England at Stonehill ... I found a 7-2 high school center from NC that I liked and started recruiting him. He talked to me every time I texted. Refused to visit my campus in Massachusetts but accepted a home visit and really liked it. I actually went to see him twice! Both went well.

He had said he wanted to play close to home but also said I was in the running. Nice! I offered. On decision day, while I made his top five (!), he ended up committing to Elon, which is in NC and about an hour from his high school. That was a very authentic experience ... I will keep an eye on him and if he ever hits the portal, boom, going to get back on him... (Do the portal recruits remember who recruited them in HS?)

I may just wait until March to fill my last scholly. Not really impressed with anyone still available as the season gets ready to start... And no one that I like is impressed with me and my school either...
